Techcraft Veneto Series SWP60 TV Stand Techcraft Veneto Series SWP60 TV Stand

Reviews

This stand is really a great value. In looks and quality, I find it superior to stands from brick-and-mortar stores that are three times the price. The hidden speaker section in the middle is a great feature, and it even fits my very large Polk Audio CS1 center speaker. I have a 42" plasma, which looks really good with this stand. Even though the stand can fit 60" TVs easily, its width doesn't overwhelm the TV at all. Also, the three compartments provide ample room for all my stuff. I fit a large receiver, DVR, center speaker, Xbox 360, PS3, and a Wii in there with plenty of room to spare. Assembly was easy enough. Took an hour or two, but was straightforward and simple. I did have one minor complaint. The center speaker panel has some extra "bezel" around the inside of the door to frame the speaker cloth. Since it's about an inch and a half thick all the way around, it reduces the open space for sound to get through. It's totally removable, though, so I plan on taking it out and putting in my own speaker cloth to eliminate the space loss from the bezel frame. Overall, a great TV stand though. Smartly designed and well built.

I spent quite a bit of time searching for the right piece of furniture for our living room and kept coming back to this item. I knew I wanted long, low and doors to keep our cats out of the equipment as features of whatever we purchased. This met all the requirements at a reasonable price. We really like the Madrid from Salamander Designs but 1200-1500$ for a pretty TV shelf was out of our price range. For unboxing/assembly photos look at [...] We were missing two washers and screws for attaching the back of the unit but that's an easy fix.

Pros: Straightforward assembly. Generally quality construction of the parts, specifically the table top. Very attractive look. Good pricing through Amazon. Cons: Some fit and finish irregularities, specifically with the doors. Not deep enough for most modern receivers, so the rear panel needs to be modified or excluded. Overall a very nice piece for the price (at Amazon, anyway). Look is very solid and high end, with a nice faux finish on the very substantial table top. The construction is well illustrated, and can be completed in under an hour. The doors fit irregularly, even with repeated adjustments, making a perfect finish impossible. The piece is shallow for an entertainment center, so I was forced to modify the rear panel to account for the depth of the receiver and its cabling.

This credenza is very sturdy. I have a 50" plasma TV on it and there is no doubt that it is going nowhere. I can easily sit on the unit and it doesn't budge. The piece looks nice also. Even though it is made of MDF with a veneer, it looks almost like it is made of real wood. It was easy to assemble and the instructions were clear. I could see how one of the other reviewers who is elderly would have a hard time with the top. I am an average sized man and I had no trouble moving it around and getting it squared up on the pegs, but it is bulky and probably weighs a good 60 pounds. The extra wide cable holes in the back are nice for getting everything connected. My blu-ray home theater receiver barely fit in the compartment. If you have stereo equipment you should definitely measure it to be sure that it fits before you order. You can get the drawings and instructions for the unit from the manufacturer's website to get the exact dimensions. The only reason that I didn't give 5 stars is because the packaging that it arrived in was totally shredded. It had a bunch of large gashes and crushed corners. It arrived while I was at work, and I thought that I'd have to send it back for sure. Fortunately, they package it pretty well with heavy cardboard and Styrofoam and the furniture itself wasn't damaged. It just looked like it had been handled pretty poorly along the way.

This is a solid entertainment stand. Great quality, looks fantastic (rich walnut appearance), and was easy to put together. Box it comes in is crazy heavy so make sure you get help moving it. All in all the stand exceeded my expectations.

I hoped based on other reviews that I would have a sturdy product which would look O.K. I'm more than pleased with the appearance of the credenza. The finish and style are actually better than I had hoped. However, I was the most impressed with the quality of hardware used! Much better than average hardware you get on items you have to construct. The directions were good. We are not "natural" construction people, but we were able to follow directions. It took us awhile to put it together, but we are extremely pleased with the final product!

Bought this stand for my 55 led. Tv is mounted on the wall and the stand sits perfect under it. Fairly easy to assemble. The doors took a little tweaking, buy it came out looking nice. My only problem is that the center channel is too small to hold most speakers. Overall, well built stand for the price I paid.

We are very pleased with the quality and look of this TV stand. Solid construction, looks good and was easy to assemble. Delivery speed from Amazon was pretty quick for such a big item too. It was delivered 4 or 5 days after purchase using the Free Super Saver shipping option.

I will try to keep this short and to the point. Paid price - excellent. Arrival time - quick. Arrival quality - excellent. Time to put together - 3-4 hours. (Easy but time consuming). Aestetics - great. Usability - also very good. Other notes: The stand's height is great for my 52 inch Sony. I measured where my eyes are, sitting on the couch and my view point was in the middle of the TV screen (while on the stand). Like another reviewer posted, the most important components (i.e on the outside) are made of wood. Remotes work through the glass with ease. The stand doesn't bow with the TV on it. Only thing to watch for is ventilation. The back board of the left and right compartments are velcroed and can easily be dettached if you need to change out the cables. The holes cut out are decent size but can easily be cut for more ventilation. All in all I would give this stand a 4.9 due to ventilation that in my case is something to look out for. Buy this stand, you won't regret you purchase.

Just received this stand and put it together this week. I've been on the lookout for a great stand at a great price for a few months now and finally settled on this one after exhaustive researching. The price dropped to $265 + Free shipping and I just couldn't pass that up! First things first, this baby weights A LOT! I still can't believe they shipped it for free. I was a little intimidated after opening the box and seeing all the parts. But after taking a deep breath, laying everything out nicely and browsing the instructions briefly it wasn't bad at all and everything made sense. I almost had a heart attack when I thought one of the support feet were missing but a quick check back into the box with tons of wrapping and foam to keep the parts safe and I found it. I didn't time myself but I'm thinking maybe a good 60 to 90 minutes putting this one together is about right. I love the color and finish on this. While it is black it almost has a dark brown feel about the color which is perfect for my setup. While some have made mention of the center area which isn't big enough for a normal/standard center channel it wasn't a problem for me. Even though mine would easily fit as I have the Sony HTIS-100 I chose to set it on top anyways. The two storage areas on either side aren't huge but they have adjustable shelves and are the right size for standard components and with the windows you shouldn't have any problems with the remotes. I'm at a point now where I don't feel the need to display all my components and would rather focus on the TV itself and this stand is perfect for that. It also sits at just the right height to accentuate viewing of my 52" Sony XBR9 whereas my last stand sat rather low. This one is perfect. Overall I'm very impressed with this item. Great quality construction, fairly easy to put together, great price and incredibly good looks you really can't go wrong. I also liked that with the doors you have the capability to mount them on either side for opening depending on your setup. A real nice touch for flexibility. Overall I'm VERY happy with this product and would highly recommend it to anyone with a 42 to 55" TV. Thanks!

bookcase was delivered within a week, packaged well ,no assembly was really required. the bookcase seems sturdy and looks great in my livingroom. i'm happy with my order.

Arrived early=joy to open and just set up-nothing to put together-in my room looks great.

Ill probably order another of these. Its great for books and dvds. Folds up to the size of a big piece of cardboard.

I took it right out of the box and opened it up. It's no trouble and it's pretty.

I love this bookshelf. While it's a little smaller that I expected it to be, it fits perfectly in the space I needed it for. No assembly was required, all I did was unpack it and the shelves folded down - very simple. For the price and style, it's a great deal!

Jazz At Lincoln Center: They Came To Swing Jazz At Lincoln Center: They Came To Swing

What a great CD! From the classic take the "A" Train to the electric "Back to Basics," I can't stop listening to this music. It hasn't been out of my CD Player since it arrived.

There is no other way to describe this organization in the manner that it perpetuates jazz at its finest! This is a compilation of performances from 1992-1994 on tour at Poughkeepsie,NY, Cleveland, and the Universities of Princeton, Michigan, and Iowa as well as Lincoln Center,NYC.I would have bought this cd purely on it containing the rarely recorded Ellington masterpiece "The Tattooed Bride". The performance of the additional material was an unexpected pleasure! The cd leads off with a version of "Take The 'A' Train" which adheres to the original Ellington band arrangement but allows the soloists a greater lattitude, such as the piano intro by Sir Roland Hanna and a masterful exhibition of trumpet playing by Lew Soloff. The 1927 Ellington composition "Black and Tan Fantasy" provides some virtuoso mute and plunger work by Wynton Marsalis on trumpet and Wycliffe Gordon on trombone which was enthusiastically received by the audience."Express Crossing" written by Wynton Marsalis leaves no doubt in anyone's mind of the imagery of trains! This is part of a critically acclaimed score written for the New York Ballet. This one, for me, was a little far out!"Light Blue" is a Thelonious Monk composition that comes off well....with some fine examples of trumpet growels from Marsalis."Jelly Jelly" is a real down blues with vocalist Milt Grayson sounding quite a bit like the great Billy Eckstine who was responsible for the lyrics. He also does the vocal on the Sigmund Romberg - Leo Robin collaboration on the infrequently recorded "Lost In Loveliness" ......which was previouly recorded by both Ellington and Eckstine. The Ellington arrangement of "Boy Meets Horn", written as a showcase for trumpeter Rex Stewart, is followed pretty closely except for the trumpet solo by Wynton Marsalis which is more extended and reveals his mastery of the instrument (never a doubt in my mind!).I found it hard to believe that Dizzy Gillespie's composition, "Things To Come", was first presented back in 1946. Small wonder that it blew away everyone for its sheer velocity alone! The fiery solos on this one go to alto saxist Jesse Davis and the high note trumpet specialist, Jon Faddis.I really dig Wynton's "Back To Basics", an excerpt from his extended work "Blood On The Fields". The tension and the beat on this just keeps building on solo after excellent solo. This one really cooks and if your fingers don't end up snapping.....you better check your pulse! Finally as a closer, the extended Ellington work (almost 12 minutes), "The Tattooed Bride". It sounds great in stereo...but....some of the beauty of the orchestration gets lost (possibly because of being recorded live in an auditorium?). For this reason alone, I still prefer the 1950 studio recording which has been re-released on cd ("Masterpieces by Ellington" on Columbia Masterworks).Bottom line: If you dig really good big band, soloists who are masters, a fine repertoire of jazz, and in particular Duke Ellington, in a responsive live setting, then you will want and enjoy this one!

The LCJO did a great job reproducing these Ellington masterpieces. The playing by Wynton is always good, but Jon Faddis, as well as Nicholas Payton, Lew Soloff, Roger Ingram, and Joshua Redman all make appearances on the cd. There are a few songs on the disc that I place ahead of others, like ATrain, Boy Meets Horn, and Things to Come. Some of the songs don't seem to go as far as they should, or could go. It is a great overall cd with good live recording. A very swinging band that recreates well while putting their own stamp on the work.

There are a few excellent cuts on this record where the LCJO is in top form, and that's pretty hard to beat. I'd buy the record again just for these tracks.

This is one of the best cds I have listened to so far in my life. Being a musician, I can say that this is the epitomy of what jazz is.

Bill and Gloria Gaither - Kennedy Center Homecoming: A Celebration of Our Faith and Our Heritage Bill and Gloria Gaither - Kennedy Center Homecoming: A Celebration of Our Faith and Our Heritage

A fantastic collection of inspirational songs by the Gaither Homecoming Friends. I have over 75 0f the Gaither videos and I would rate this one in the top 10.

This may be the best of all the Gaither DVDs. Nothing is better than I've Just Seen Jesus with Larnelle Harris and Sandy Patty. You must own this one.The Mystery of God's Will: Living the Christian Life as Seen in Ephesians

I picked this up at the local Christian Bookstore, having grown a taste for the music from the relentless hours my parents watched these reruns on TNN. Now at 22 I'm a huge fan of old time gospel music. Be sure to get the copy that includes the bonus tape "Backstage". There is an acoustic (piano/voice) version of a song the Katina's wrote for their late mother that's awesomely inspiring. The backstage tape ends with about 20 minutes of Andrae Crouch and the gang around a piano just jamming. Pick this one up for sure!

Without a doubt, this is the best! The quality of the music and performance is wonderful. I have watched this video many times and still sit on the edge of my chair through-out.

I have seen most all of the Gaither videos and love each and every one. I will eventually own all of them as does both my brother and sister. Vestal Goodman is my most favorite, but Lillie and all others, especially Karen Christmas inspire me to greatness. Being from Marietta, Ga. should also give you a clue as to who I think is the absolute pinnacle of beauty.

This CD is now the BEST in my collection!. Steve Kahn, Anthony Jackson, Dennis Chambers...their chemistry is great. 15 cuts on this 2 disc, live recording of this trio. Give it a listen. I'm sure it will be one of , if not, the best in your collection!.

Superb musicianship and fine quality live performance recording of jazz/rock fusion trio do not get better than this! This 2CD set is guaranteed to have you full listening attention, and multiple times for any Steve, Anthony or Dennis' fan!

This album exceeded all my prior expectations of a MONSTER trio comprising Mssrs. Steve Khan, Anthony Jackson and Dennis Chambers. It's unfortunate that the double album was only officially released over a decade after the concert proper, as an earlier release would have undoubtedly garnered it its due awards (of the highest order). Highly recommended.

This is an excellent album, with great performances by Steve, Anthony Jackson and Dennis Chambers! A live double CD set recorded in Germany that is really worth while. Outstanding!!!

Live albums such as this are hard to come by. The playing is incredible, the sound quality is top shelf and the audience is totally into it...as much as the musicians themselves. Whenever you hear about great jazz guitar players, folks always talk about Pat Metheny, John Scofield, Mike Stern or whomever else. Steve Khan doesn't get that kind of mention and I have no idea why. He plays with a lot of atmosphere, rhythm and harmonics and has always been a personal favorite of mine. Khan is absolutely incredible here. Dennis Chambers is a monster drummer; this live set shows you why. Like the other reviewers have said, why did it take so long to release this??? Anyway, by all means make the purchase. This is five stars plus. Jazz is NOT dead.

This movie was wonderful. An early intro to Hill Harper who has gone on to star in movies such as The Skulls and hits like CSI:NY. I digress, this movie presents a wonderful journey of one young man to find his roots and honor is mother's dying wishes. In the process, he finds himself and others are forced to take a journey within as well. Add to that the backdrop of the lovely Irish landscape (and a haircut scene that is one of the most tastefully sexy things I've ever seen) and you've got yourself a treat for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

On September, 11th 2001, after the terrorist attack to the World Trade Center, the building collapses over the rescue team from the Port Authority Police Department. Will Jimeno and his sergeant John McLoughlin are found alive trapped under the wreckage while the rescue teams fight to save them. It is a powerful movie that tells the story without sensationalizing the event and the anger and hatred for the attackers following the attacks. There are tears of joy, laughs, and tears of sorrow interlaced throughout this movie with Strong acting from a huge cast including Nicolas Cage and Michael Pena. This movie is not ground-breaking work, but it wasn't meant to be. It was meant to tell the story of a few brave men and their families and their experiences during September 11th, and it accomplished this very well.

Order was shipped next day and arrived in very good condition and viewed like new. I would order from this person again.

Nicolas Cage's performance in this movie is outstanding. this is truly an awesome film. this is a must see

Oliver Stone's 'World Trade Center" grabs your attention from start to finish. The movie depicted the most horrendous day in this country's history. The heroes in this movie are the officers who courageously survived the rubble and how their families coped through it all. I will admit this movie is emotional and quite powerful. We will never forget 9/11. I know I won't forget it.

The Bottom Line: A much different film than many people feared it would be when they heard Oliver Stone was attached, World Trade Center is not great in scope or ambition but in telling the small story of John McLoughlin and Will Jimeno it is an unqualified success; 25 years from now when there have been many more films made about 9/11 this one may not be well-remembered, but it achieves what it sets out to do. 3/4

Average Rating:

Regardless of whether it was "too early" in 2006 to dramatize the events of September 11th, 2001, World Trade Center succeeds as a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of those who served at "ground zero" in the wake of terrorist attacks on the WTC's twin towers in New York City...
