Household Essentials 3477 Rolling 4-Bag Laundry Sorter Household Essentials 3477 Rolling 4-Bag Laundry Sorter

Reviews

I'm picky about doing my laundry. I live in a very humid and rainy climate. My other laundry sorter bags touched the ground when they were full. I have to keep the sorter outside in a poorly covered area (covered patio roofing leaks). Those bags molded and soaked things and caused colors to run and dye other things. I was desperate for a sorter that a) had enough sorting bag options b)had natural colors that wouldn't bleed c) mildew/mold resistant d) is high enough off the ground to not touch or drag e)easy to use f)each bag had to be spacious enough to hold the clothing for a load. I have a family of 5 and we have a LOT of laundry. This sorter performs in every area and more. The bags are spacious enough to hold an entire load, lift off to dump clothes right in the washer if need be, was VERY easy to assemble, and has freed me from much of the stress involved in doing laundry that I had before. I'd recommend this product over and over again. While I'm hopeful to never need to replace it, if that moment ever happens, I'll be getting the very same product again. VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!

This laundry sorter is the nicest I've owned. I got it to match our master bath/closet with the oil rubbed bronze finish. Wheels work smooth on my hardwood floors and the handle design is great because it is functional and adds a pretty touch. It only took me about ten minutes to assemble and I am NOT handy! My other sorter has the hanging racks above it(nice for drying things that do not go in the dryer and can be put on hangers and shelf is good for blanket/sheets storage) and the bags are not canvas - therefore they started to rip quite a while ago also finding replacement canvas bags are difficult to say the least! The ones I have found cost more then the entire unit did which was $39.99 aprox ten years ago at Target. I still use the other in our basement and this new one in the masterbath. When the bag is full, it is exactly a full load of laundry. Having the fourth bag is nice too because it can be used for the delicates, which I don't have on my other sorter. If your looking for a sorter, this is it! It is also available in other finishes too!

This was a wonderful purchase I made. I love the looks, and the 4 compartment sorter bags. Best one I ever bought. The quality is the best, and very convenient for sorting all my clothes. Also like the fact that you don't have to bend so far down to remove cloths for washing. Was worth every penny. Very pleased customer, georgia

Note that i did have a problem with the sorter: one of the screw holes was tapped in the wrong direction, and required some McGyvering with a dowel and some glue to get it to hold together. Otherwise, assembly was quick and easy. Love this sorter! The bags are just the right size to hold a load of laundry and are sturdy and well-sewn. I actually use this to store all my clothes (tops in one bag, bottoms in the next, third for underthings and the last bag for laundry) and it works an absolute treat. Easy to roll out for cleaning, but locks in place as well. Would have received five stars if not for the screw hole issue. Am considering buying another!

ideal for sorting darks, whites, brights, and delicates. the each one is about a load for when one gets full I do a load of laundry.

Good poster, good customer service, & fast delivery. Only negative I'd give is that packaging got a little bent in USPS and hence, the poster got some creases. I'm satisfied overall.

I bought this for my sister for Christmas. She loves travel and geography. I wanted a map that would look classy in her new home, and this one served well. I really liked it, and so did she!

I wanted a map that looks old and this picture was nice...but instead I got a very shiny map that looks bad for the purpose . :|

I wanted a large, old fashioned map, for framing and hanging. This was perfect, and the information on it is up-to-date.

I was looking for an antique looking map and this was perfect and the price is right. It fits a poster size frame as well.

This is a great stand and really easy to assemble. Folds up nicely to stick in the closet. I use it for ironing. Great service too - came quickly and in perfect condition.

Easy to assemble. Works great inside or out, I've used it both ways. And, it folds up so flat that I can slide it behind a book case when not in use. I don't like spending the time and money drying clothes at the laundromat and air drying is so much better for your clothing. And clothes dried outside smell so nice!

This was very simple to assemble. It's not the sturdiest item, but for a few articles of clothing and the fact it is light and collapsable it's great to hang clothes outside.

I have used it several times. I comes in so handy when my husband and I wash a full load of delicates. We no longer have to hang them in our upstairs bathroom shower and when the clothes are dry it folds right up for easy storage... Love it!

This item was so easy to put together. Holds lots of hangers and when I am through, I just fold it up and put it away. No screws or tools required for assembly. Just pop into place and use. Very Sturdy.

These match my dresser almost perfectly. Very easy to install and work well. My dad and I pulled on my dresser...it isn't going anywhere!

You could put something like this together for much less than it costs but if you're short on time then these straps do the trick. I use them on all tall/heavy furniture that's at risk of toppling in an earthquake or if baby climbs on them. They come in enough colors that I can match them to to the furniture and they don't look too bad.

I only gave this product four stars for ease of installation. It will get five stars if the straps actually work during an earthquake, but hopefully I will never have to find that out. Yes you can buy your own straps and screws, but the part that attaches to your furniture here is velcro actually sewn in a very strong manner to the strap. It was easy to install, and the fact the velcro is sewn on and not just stuck on gives added security to the overall strength of the strap. Yeah they're maybe a little pricey, but they're quick and easy to install, and I'd rather buy these than deal with all my broken possessions if a big quake does hit my area. I used them on bookshelves, file cabinet, dressers, bedroom set w/ mirrored headboard.. Fast shipping from Grady's Hardware too. Pretty happy overall.

Crosley CR32 CD Cathedral Radio with CD - Paprika Crosley CR32 CD Cathedral Radio with CD - Paprika

Reviews

It was packaged well, delivered in great time. And the receipient can't stop thanking me it.

This radio has proven to be a conversation piece in our dining room, as it does look rather cool and elegant. And when you play older recordings, say some Bing Crosby on Decca or Billie Holiday on Columbia, it does a fine job and seems to match the period it's trying to represent. When you play a newer recording, say the new Michael Buble CD, however, it falls majorly short and flat. This has probably the worst sounding stereo sound I've ever come across on a unit like this. Those who like to listen to newer music should look elsewhere. I am just lucky I like to listen to the older stuff, and for that it works just fine.

The radio itself is attractive, works well and is a perfect size and design for my small cottage. However, it is quite difficult to see the control labels. I have to memorize what the various buttons do and then hope I hit the right one.

I received this radio and it's just wonderful. The sound is great and I just love the old time style. Well worth the money!

The radio reception is great. I do wish it had more then a single CD slot. I love the look of it.

Love the colors on this globe, but I wish the base were metal, rather than plastic. My grandson exclaimed when opening his Chrismas gift, "I've wanted a globe my ENTIRE life!" (he's 7 years old). Creative Kinetics: Making Mechanical Marvels in Wood Creative Kinetics: Making Mechanical Marvels in Wood

Reviews

This author is enjoyable & it's easy to see how much he loves creating these unique items! He leaves enough to the imagination & to your own creativity to make this a unique learning experience!

When I set myself the task of making a moving-part toy, I decided it needed a crank to run. The only problem is that the last time I studied simple machines was in 4th grade. No problem, right? I wandered down to the library and checked out six kinetic sculpture books (along with spending a few hours online). The other books were full of ideas, inspiration, and some fascinating discussions of how a piston engine works. But not ONE really explained what a cam was, or how to get my crank to move something up and down instead of circularly. Until I got this book. Thank goodness for Creative Kinetics! For those of us who remember nothing about simple mechanics (or for children who are just learning for the first time), it gives very basic illustrations to help you understand what different mechanisms are (pulleys, gears, cranks, flywheels, levers, etc), how changing the measurements affects the amount of work they do, and how to use a mechanism to create a particular effect. While the sample projects are not at all fancy, I loved how quick they were, and that they could be made with cardboard and string (among other household objects) to get the concepts down before tackling them in wood in my own project. This book clearly isn't designed for the advanced artist - but it's perfect for someone like me who can't remember beans about 4th grade and really needs help figuring out which parts (or angles, or lengths) will do the trick.

This book is great for exactly the same reason that the other two reviewers *didn't* like it. It is written for kids. And very well written at that. It has simple explanations and do-able projects (there are some more advanced ones as well). Kinetic toys have great potential for introducing many subjects: wind toys--> environmental science, kinetics--> physics, design--> art and art history, movements--> mechanical design, vocabulary etc. And the author realizes that potential. He introduces vocabulary, explains mechanical principles, discusses design variations and leaves ample room for creativity, as well as showcasing other artists' work. A rich resource which will serve as a jumping-off point for many learning experiences in our home. And a bunch of fun projects to boot. This book would be good for anyone who wants to teach themselves some of the basic principles of kinetics/mechanical design. There are probably more advanced books out there for non-beginners. But this is an excellent beginner's book.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I wanted to like it because I liked the author's prior book and I expected this to be a continuation. The cover art suggested more complex movements than the book describes. Books by Rodney Peppe and the author's prior work are more useful than this book. The examples tend to be of the rather simple, single movement kind. For example, put a ball on a stick, put a pivot point in the middle of the stick, push the lower end of the stick back and forth and watch the ball move back and forth. The book does cover simple movements well. Another example, you can make a cardboard profile of a face, make the jaw with a pivot point and a long lever, then move the lever up and down to open/close the mouth. Possibly, the book was intended for a very young audience, or the author wished to get something out without giving away his "secrets." There is anecdotal wisdom here instead of descriptions about combining various mechanical movements, and no descriptions of what the more complex objects actually do. The author talks about a piece with a clockwork motor which runs for a minute or so, but doesn't say what it is doing during that minute. Perhaps nothing? I think I have a different definition of what kinetic art is than the author. I would suggest a visit the Cabaret Mechanical Theater website and accessing some of the links for examples of kinetic/mechanical works, many in wood.

The cover is misleading. It shows an interesting artwork but the text is trivial in ideas. The approach is to consider a mechanical linkage, cam, crank etc., and then give detailed instructions on making boring and trivial example. The frustrating aspect is that photographs of interesting but complex pieces are scattered through the book. I expect that he author felt that explaining the basic mechanisms was the major point. What is omitted is combining multiple mechanisms and creating something other than a simple toy for a six year old. The result is an unbridged gap between the art that is occasionally illustrated and the bulk of the text. The first 71 pages could have been covered in fewer than seven pages with no loss. The first interesting photographs are on pages 72 and 73. This construct looks as if it utilizes at least half dozen mechanisms. I am sure that there are a number of interesting problems in the design and construction of this item. What would have been interesting would be details of the working parts with some discussion of the choices and problems. The object is not to suggest that the reader would duplicate this artwork but to give the reader some idea of the decisions, issues and problems in a real complex construction. As an example, This construct uses three pulleys at the base. Pulleys are finally discussed on pages 112-115. Is the third pulley a driven pulley, an idler, called a rider by the author, or both? The photograph raises dozens of interesting questions but the answers are not in this book. What you will find is that the great majority of the book is construction details on projects that almost no one would want to build and very little help on real projects.

The Encyclopedia of Furniture: Third Edition - Completely Revised The Encyclopedia of Furniture: Third Edition - Completely Revised

Reviews

This book is just what I was looking for: Illustrated descriptions of styles and terms used for furniture. If you want to know what terms like "cabriole" mean (for which you really need illustrations), this is probably the right book for you. I say "probably" because The Encyclopedia of Furniture was originally published in 1938 and the current edition was revised almost 50 years ago. Given that most of the material is historical, that's not as bad as it sounds The Encyclopedia of Furniture would benefit greatly from the better editorial and production values that computerized compilation methods have made possible. (Unfortunately, most publishers--reflecting the ownership of many by huge multinational media corporations--are more interested in how fast they can publish than whether the material is comprehensive or even factually correct.) Following are examples of the kinds of problems that could be eliminated with some editorial direction and modern production techniques (which will also give you an idea of what's covered by The Encyclopedia of Furniture): --The criteria for deciding what or who deserves an entry aren't clear. For example, an entry appears for William Morris but none for Breuer or Thonet. And does James Gillingham (an 18th century Phila. furniture maker whose name isn't identified with a chair or any other piece of furniture) warrant more space than either of these? --It appears that only photographic plates are numbered, but line drawings don't always appear adjacent to the text they illustrate. Because there are 1800+ illustrations, this can create confusion. For example, to what do the unlabeled line drawings numbered a-e at the top of col. 1, p. 389 refer (none of the text appearing on pages 388-389 appears to reference these). --The illustrations don't always appear with the most appropriate entry. For example, there's no illustration for KNEEHOLE but illustrations of kneehole desks appear under both DESK and ENGLAND. --The means of illustration are also sometimes inappropriate. PERIOD FURNITURE (p. 336) is illustrated by a hand-drawn timeline whereas it should have been typeset---or perhaps the timeline (which certainly deserves space in this encyclopedia) belongs someplace else. --In some places (e.g., the heavily illustrated ENGLAND section) the illustrations sometimes don't even fit the printed page (they just kind of slide off the end). --INTAGLIO (p. 262) references illustration 32, which is a Queen Anne armchair. Does this mean that the three-toed DRAKE FOOT of the chair leg is an example of intaglio? The entry is vague, and so is the illustration. --Running heads and folios are essential but are sometimes missing just where they are needed most (e.g., the lengthy ENGLAND section). This great reference is most deserving of an extensive, up-to-date revision.

This text doesn't go into detail about anything in particular, it's good at describing the basics, but the basics can easily be found through an internet search. I wouldn't recommend this text.

Incredible reference for different pieces of furniture and motifs ranging from the beginning of construction to present. Used it for my History of Furniture class...pictures were very helpful examples and the accompanying captions and text were thorough.

I cannot stress enough how fabulous this book is - it really is Must-Have Resource book for ALL Design Libraries. Having studied the applied arts/ craft arts & design this book is a great reference guide and something I use to check on original & replica styles from furniture suppliers, especially for historical aspects to help further inform clients on their choices/ placement & ultimately purchases. If you love furniture, design or are in both - then this is a great addition to your resources.

If some one like antique furnitures, you got to have this book. it is very completely and tells you most the styles in the history.
